Frequently Asked Questions

 What is refinishing?

Refinishing countertops is a process whereby an acrylic polymer, twice as durable as epoxy, is sprayed onto your existing countertop to restore it to a like-new condition. This is a high gloss or satin coating that is also easy to keep clean.

 Is this just paint?

No. Our counterop coating is designed specifically for this application. It is able to withstand immersion, temperature fluctuations, expansion and contraction, and is chemical and solvent.

Will my countertop be easy to clean?

Yes. Our coating is non-porous, which means soap and other stains lie on the surface. Your refinished surface will simply wipe clean, no scrubbing will be necessary.

Why shouldn't I just replace my countertop or cabinets?

Typically, refinishing will save you 50-75% or more over replacement costs. On top of this, there is none of the construction debris associated with replacement.

How long does it take to refinish a countertop or cabinets?

In most cases, we will refinish your countertop within one day. Cabinets can take from 1 to 5 days.

How soon can I use my countertop?

Your refinished countertop requires a 24 hour curing period. The surface must not get wet during this time.

What do I need to do before you come over to refinish my countertop?

We need you to put away any items that may be sitting on or near the surface.

I'm planning on doing other work in the kitchen or bathroom. When should I schedule the refinishing?

In almost all cases, refinishing should be scheduled last. It is important that we have as little dust and debris as possible when we are working.

What if my countertop or cabinets is/are damaged?

Small chips and cracks can be repaired during the cleaning and preparation stage of refinishing. We will inform you if the chip or cracks cannot be repaired prior to refinishing your fixture.

My countertop was refinished once before. Can it be refinished again?

 Yes.

How do I clean and maintain my refinished fixture?

We recommend non abrasive cleaners such Lysol Basin and Tile cleaner, Mr. Clean, Dow, Windex, or Fantastic. These strong but non-abrasive cleaners will safely keep your fixture clean without dulling the gloss like any abrasive cleaner will do.

Is there anything I need to do after you are finished with your work?

You will need to allow your countertop to cure for the full 24 hours.

How do I take care of my new countertop?

You will be provided with care and maintenance instructions for your refinished surface. Basically, you will need to clean your surface with non-abrasive cleaners.

How long will the refinishing last?

Provided you follow our simple care instructions, your refinished countertop could give you 10 years of enjoyment.

Why should I consider refinishing rather than replacement?

First of all, to replace something you must first tear out the old items. When considering the cost of replacement you must consider demolition, cost of the replacement item, labor for installation, not to mention the mess and time it will take. For example, normal costs for replacing cabinets range from $4,500 - $10,000. The cost of refinishing cabinets is significantly less and you can keep your items where they are, saving you the hassle of removing and replacing items, decreasing the risk that something will get broken.

What bathroom and kitchen fixtures and surfaces can be refinished?

Our refinishing system works beautifully on: cultured marble countertops, Formica countertops, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom cabinets.

Will my countertop or cabinets look painted?

Definitely not. You probably will not be able to tell the difference between new or refinished. Refinishing will make that old chipped, stained, or color-dated item look new again.

 How long will it take?

One of the key benefits of refinishing is that it can usually be completed in less than one day, with the exception of cabinets. Our refinished countertops and cabinets can be used in 24 hours.
